THE WHIMSICAL WORLD OF ART
Project 1: Tinga Tinga Peacock

Based on the work of American Abstract Expressionism Sculptor, Louise Nevelson, students will create their own 'low relief' sculpture using common objects and emphasizing shape, texture and dimension in their sculpture.Project 3: Niki's Art
Based on the whimsical works of sculptor, Niki De Saint Phalle, students will create their own fantasy world animals using clay and bright acrylic paints.Project 4: Paint by Numbers
Jasper Johns created a series of prints that feature numbers. Students will use numbers that have personal significance to them to create a chalk pastel masterpiece.Project 5: Flora & Fauna
In the likeness of artist, Georgia O'Keeffe, students will study real leaves and transfer the image to two-dimensions. By making the leaves (and bugs) larger there is a sense of abstraction to the drawing. The student will emphasize on this large scale to bring out the detail and beauty.
