Conflict Resolution/Management
A Conflict Resolution curriculum is in place in all classrooms, grades K-5. Students learn to understand and value individual
differences, as well as strategies to use when they have a disagreement with others.
Torrance Tykes Preschool
Torrance Tykes Preschool is a State funded preschool for low-income families, run by the Torrance Unified School
District. The program is designed for students who will be eligible for Kindergarten the following year and are the age of
four by December 2. On a space-available basis, younger students are sometimes considered. Enrollment is through
Torrance Tykes at (310) 972-6490.
Student Council
Student Council provides students the opportunity to develop leadership skills and learn about the democratic process.
Student Council members are elected officers and classroom representatives. Student Council plans and sponsors school
spirit days and fundraisers. Funds raised by Student Council support student activities and gifts to the school that
benefit students directly.
YMCA Before and After School Care
The YMCA offers before and after school care on the John Adams campus. The program hours are 6:30 a.m. to 6:00
p.m. The YMCA operates this program. For further information, please contact the main YMCA at (310) 325-5885.
Youth Group
Information about youth organizations and activities available in the community is sent home with students as it
becomes available. Additional copies of flyers are available in the school office.
